Take a Little Time ~ Take 6

Take a Little Time for You! header

Did anyone else have a rough week? I won’t go into all the ugly details, but I sure felt as though I had been through the wringer! Family stuff, kiddos, blogging issues… It all adds up to a week where I didn’t take very good care of myself. But that changed over the weekend. I spent treasured time with friends, reconnected with my Beloved, rested, and laughed. It was just what this girl needed!

It’s a new week, and I’m ready to get back on track. How about you?

Last Week’s Goals ~

  • ~ Measure out and drink 60 oz. (or your goal) of water each day.
  • ~ Continue memorizing James 1:1-4 with my group of friends
  • ~ Exercise at least 5 times this week.
  • Continue to read Love & Respect with my Beloved.
  • ~ Write down three things I’m grateful for every day.

This Week’s Goals ~

I’m going try cutting my weekly list in half again, and REALLY focus on these five goals.

Weekly Group Goal:

  • ~ Write down three things we are grateful for each day.

For My Head ~

  • ~ WRITE. Just spend time writing – whether it is journaling or blogging. I can process life, wounds heal, and creativity grows when I set aside time to write out what is on my heart.

For My Heart ~

  • ~ Soak up time with my girlfriends when we have our monthly dinner this week.

For My Body ~

  • ~ Measure out 60 oz. of water to drink each day.
  • ~ Take care of my nails – file, apply cuticle balm, and polish them a pretty color.

Will You Join Me? ~

I’m curious – as I’ve been thinking about all the things that have kept me from taking better care of myself, I’m wondering – What things are keeping you from taking a little time for you? Kids? Work? Crazy schedule? Are you like me and forgot how to take care of yourself?

One of the hardest parts of taking a little time for myself has always been coming up with ideas for how to take care of me. That’s why I’ve come up with a list of 101 FREE (or nearly free) Ways to Take a Little Time for US! And I’d be thrilled to send it to you! I’ll keep sharing even more of my progress on Facebook and Instagram this week, and I’d love it if you joined me. It would be way more fun with you! Let’s find a second to actually take a minute, SIT DOWN today, and just breathe. And don’t forget to write out three things you are grateful for today! You can even share them here in the comments! Let’s put our health, our hearts, and our heads back on the to-do list – and let’s start taking better care of ourselves today!

Yes ma’am, rough week on my end too. Ayiyi. 🙂 So glad we’re both out of that hard stuff. This week I’ve been caring for myself with duckling cuddling, Castle watching, and copious cups of Earl Grey tea with maple syrup and milk. 🙂

Three things I’m grateful for today:
    1. I’m thankful that my kids grew up to be awesome young adults in spite of my imperfections as a mom.
    2. I’m thankful for the wonderful guy in my life who created a lovely Valentine’s Day for me this year.
    3. Even though I’m growing very tired of winter, I’m so thankful that we haven’t had tons of snow like people living on the East coast.

And I’m grateful to you, Ginger, for reminding me to count my many blessings!

  • A wonderful reminder that while we spend time looking after others we need to look after ourselves. I’m going to make my nails important this week, they’re so weak they need special care

  • I am really bad about remembering to take time for myself (and not counting naptime as part of that because I don’t think doing dishes or vacuuming is really the same as taking a bath or painting my nails!) This is such a good idea and one that I think seems much more do-able when it’s only a handful of things on the list. My goal this week is to take a bath, solo, with no kids and no bath crayons or toys in there with me…just me and my e-reader having a little chill time 🙂

It’s so important to take time for yourself! We’ve been having lots of snow and bad weather that’s been keeping us inside – I spent Sunday afternoon catching up on some reading and at first I felt guilty but then I realized it was actually ok to take some “me time.”

  • Great goals! It’s so much better to have a few quality goals than to try to meet too many. Then we don’t get discouraged and give up! Good luck!

  • Sarah K says:

Three things I’m thankful for this week: snow plows, my husband and I both have fairly flexible jobs when it comes to kids home for snow days, and yoga.

  • Winter White says:

I take time for myself as much as I possibly can, I have no kids but I do have a full social and family life and it seems when you’re running around constantly whether it’s to a party or some other responsibility you just forget that you still need time for just you. Thank you for the reminder
