One of the things that I have focused on while taking better care of myself is to crawl out of my comfy, slouchy sweats – and get dressed for the day! I haven’t thought to take photos of all of my outfits, but here are a few of the easy, budget-friendly, kid-proof ensembles that I’ve been sporting recently…
I wore my new maxi skirt for the very first time! Even though I’m
short vertically challenged and I generally stay away from long skirts, I just couldn’t pass up this White House Black Market chevron skirt that I found for a SONG at my favorite local consignment store! For church, I paired it with a Bass denim shirt (one of my Beloved’s favorite on me!) that I spied on clearance, and my Radiant Orchid earrings from One Little Momma‘s Etsy store – One Little Belt.
Another day this week I wore a different pair of earrings from One Little Belt, an army green top that was thrifted, a pair of stretchy skinny jeans that I found at another consignment store, and my ruby red TOMS. I’m also wearing my two favorite necklaces – my Beloved’s older Air Force wings (so he is always near my heart), and a long antique watch necklace that my dad gave to me many years ago.
I also tried out Jamberry Nail Wraps for the first time! I enjoyed the experience, they looked great even on Day 11 when I finally took them off.
And they didn’t damage my nails at all. Here I am checking out my nails after I removed the wraps – along with the workout clothes that you’ll spot me in at least twice a week… (Zebra socks make me run faster – a girl can hope!)
I felt kinda country another day, so I paired my go-to earrings with a sundress that I found on clearance at a little western store in town. I’m also sporting a thrifted denim jacket and my cowgirl boots that were from a consignment store. I love an outfit that takes all of 10 seconds to put on in the morning – and can withstand life with three boys!
As much as I love my boots, I have been so excited to break out my ruby slippers once more! Animal print tunic and same skinny jeans as above were both consignment treasures. (My pew in the background was a Craigslist bargain.)
Because I’ve been nursing a muscle spasm in my back, I’ve been limping into my fuzzy, animal print jammies early in the evenings and spending as much time as I can on my tummy. It’s the only position that I’ve found where my back doesn’t hurt. It no longer feels like back labor (Yowza!) and it’s getting a little better each day, so I’m sure that I’ll be back among the upright soon!
This weekend my Beloved and I will be attending our very first military ball! I’m nervous, but also excited – a new dress, borrowing jewelry from a generous friend, and I’m going to wear my pretty blue shoes. Maybe I’ll get to link-up again next week with more pictures!
Today I’m linking up with Pleated Poppy and Get Your Pretty On. Fix yourself a cup of tea, get comfy, and check out all of the other great links! I can’t wait to see what y’all have been up to this week! I would love to stay in touch – You can find me on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. You can also have my posts sent to your inbox by subscribing to my posts – over there, on the right. It’s fast, it’s free, it’s so easy!
Let’s all remember to take a little time to care for ourselves. We really can be better wives, moms, and friends when we care for ourselves the same way that we care for those that we love.
Happy Monday, my friends! When I left you last week, I was nursing a muscle spasm that felt like back...
