My Beloved and I got a little more than we bargained for when I went to visit him in Mississippi on Friday. I had a wonderful time with him over the weekend and then I packed up on Sunday, shed a couple of tears, kissed him goodbye, and boarded a plane that was to bring me back home. The other passengers and I waited several hours for our late plane, got settled in our seats, turned off our phones, and started taxiing toward the runway when the pilot came on and said that there had been a fire at the airport where we were heading, and that we were going to sit on the tarmac to wait for word as to when we could finally take off. After quite a while they let us back into the airport to wait for further word. After six hours of waiting and 90 minutes of trying to reschedule my flight, I found out that I couldn’t leave Mississippi until Tuesday morning!
I texted my hubby, and back he came to the airport to get me! I was able to have lunch the next day with some of his friends, soak up the ocean, write, and explore Biloxi while he was at work.
Tuesday morning we were heading out the door to the airport at 0430 (dark o’thirty) when Joe checked his email – and it’s a good thing! My flight had been canceled again, and rescheduled for the next afternoon! I had another day and a half with my main squeeze!
I happen to be rather fond of him ~
We made a 5AM Tato-nut run, (doughnuts made with potato flour), and I explored the Gulfport area a little more that day. We had a free all-you-can-eat crab buffet dinner at the Hard Rock casino that night – YUM! I had never stepped foot inside a casino before, I’m so cheap that losing money isn’t my thing, so we bypassed the slot machines and headed straight for the free crab legs. Bring it on!
My flight finally took off yesterday afternoon, and I made it home pretty late last night. I missed our kiddos so much – and they were pretty happy to see me, too! They can’t wait to see their Daddy Joe again soon. He graduates from this training in about a week, so I’ll be back in his arms in about 8-9 days. Not soon enough, but the boys and I have enough planned to keep us pretty busy while passing the time until he can be home with us for Christmas!
We are so incredibly grateful to the people that helped with our boys and our dogs while I was gone – my sister-in-law, our neighbors, and grandparents! Thank you SO much!
I’m looking forward to getting back into the normal life and blogging swing of things now that I’m home.
Speaking of blogging, I wanted to send out a huge THANK YOU to everyone that entered my very first giveaway! I put the results on Facebook yesterday, but I’m excited to announce here that the winners of my two favorite books of the year were Jan H and Jeri! Each and every one of you gave me some great titles that I have added to my GoodReads list!
Hoping that you have a marvelous Thursday,
